Facebook and Instagram are down worldwide
Facebook and Instagram services have been restored after an outage that was reported Tuesday night in India and many other regions of the world. On these two social media platforms, users bemoaned their inability to log in. Their Instagram and Facebook profiles have been deleted. Instagram users had issues with page refreshes. Many people were asked to change their passwords. Soon after, YouTube users started to encounter a similar issue.
When using Facebook and Instagram, messages like “Log in again; session expired; couldn’t refresh feed” would show up. The incidents started at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The outage tracking website Downdetector.com reports that tens of thousands of users were unable to access Meta Platforms’ Facebook and Instagram on Tuesday. There were over 30,000 instances for Instagram and over 4,000 complaints of outages for Facebook, according to the website that analyzes outages by aggregating status updates from several sources, including users.
Reuters reports that Meta’s status dashboard indicates that there were issues with WhatsApp Business’s application programming interface. There were nearly 200 reports of WhatsApp disruptions on Dow detector, an analysis tool that gathers status information from many sources, including users.
However, service was restored at roughly 10.10pm on Tuesday night.

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a post on X social media.
“If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working,” joked Elon Musk, the Owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), without holding back.

Some Users of the internet fear hacking and cyberattacks.
Hundreds of people took to microblogging site X reporting about Facebook and Instagram outages. One user wrote, “Is Meta down or am I being hacked? 😂 my instagram isn’t loading and my facebook is also “session logged out”. Another said, “I thought my Facebook and Instagram got hacked for a second.”
“Me coming to twitter to see if #INSTAGRAM is down once again,” another user tweeted. An X user ‘Fram Freeman’ claimed, “I’ve been scrambling to change passwords 3 times, thinking I’m racing the hackers like in a movie”.
